Shri Chinmoy was born in 1931 and, after losing his father and mother, lived for 20 years in Shri Aurobindo's Ashram in Pondicherry. In the early 1960s he travelled to America. He calls his path the path of love, devotion and self-surrender, through which he always takes the student into his consciousness and leads him to the highest.
Shri Chinmoy also manifests spirituality in areas as diverse as sport, painting, poetry and peace work. Every two years he organizes the "World Peace Run" (Shri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace-Run), which connects more and more people across national, ideological and religious boundaries in the spirit of love, and leads peace meditations at the American Congress, for the UN, at the Pentagon and in the British Parliament, among others. His yoga is a dynamic integration of Eastern and Western paths.
